The photo below looks back at the Zambian border and the river crossing from Zambia to Botswana. Lorry drivers can wait up to two weeks to cross the river on the ferry because it only takes two or three lorries at a time but the alternative is hundreds of miles away and considerably more expensive. It was here that we had to get into a speed boat to cross the Mighty Zambezi River to enter Botswana.
In fact, where the boat is in the photo below, is the only place in the World where four countries meet in the middle of a river. The four countries are Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
When we got to the Botswana border we all had to dip the shoes we were wearing plus another pair of shoes into a tray that had disinfectant in it. This was to prevent Foot and Mouth disease from entering the country.
When we arrived at our hotel we were given the most amazing room. It is like a suite because it has a separate room for children, and a bedroom that is open plan to the bathroom. It is an extremely nice room and from the balcony we have already spotted a family of warthogs and lots of monkeys and baboons.
Room looks lovely. Make sure none of the pesky mossies can sneak in. Can't wait to hear about your safari.
