So this is me at 5.00 am - a sight not often seen but it does prove that I can get out of bed before 10am!
We were all allocated a seat in a jeep and we set off for the Chobe National Park which was about 10 minutes from our hotel.
We were all really excited about seeing the wildlife in the Park and in the Chobe River and we were all hoping for a really good safari.
The first animal we saw was the Cape Buffalo.
Then we all got very excited because we could see a group of Giraffe but they were a long way from us.
Next we saw a tree full of Vultures
and some more Impalas with lovely striped bottoms.
There were lots and lots of Baboons in the Park but I like this close up photo of one of the big males.
I then managed to get quite a good close up of a face of a Warthog.
Then we got really lucky when one of the men in our jeep spotted a pride of Lions. To start with they were all lying down and not very visible but then they started to stir and a few of them got up and walked around - brilliant!
Then we saw some Zebras.
Then we had our 'stretch' break. This is Sue and I with Stanley our driver and guide; he was excellent!
After our break we saw a small pod of Hippopotamus,
a black, back Jackel
and the most spectacular sighting of a Giraffe who just walked straight out in front of the jeep.
Then we saw a Water Buffalo
and then after we had left the Park we saw some Elephants on the way back to the Hotel.
The Safari had taken about four hours and we got back to the Hotel at 10.00 am just in time for breakfast. It had been a brilliant morning and everyone was extremely happy.
After breakfast we were given some free time so we decided to lounge around the pool. At 3.00 pm we were due to meet to go on a River Safari.
Well what a productive wildlife photo session, you did so well seeing all those animals in just four hours, well worth the early rise and shine!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't thinking that at 5.00 AM this morning though! You know what I am like in the morning - but I survived and it was worth it! An amazing morning

ReplyDeleteYou know me Sandra, I can't get up before 10 am so there is no chance of me getting up at 5!!! xx
DeleteGreat photos. Did that elephant enjoy playing hide and seek? Ha ha
ReplyDeleteYes, they were hiding but we just about spotted them. I think we would have been very disappointed if we hadn't seen any elephants. xx
