Botswana, Day 3

There was nothing planned for today so we decided to have a lazy day on the sun beds beside the pool.  It gave us a chance to stop taking photos and to catch up with the Blog. It also gave us time to have some deep and meaningful conversations (that is another way of saying we talked each other to death). We had a deep psychological discussion on the meaning of love which lasted a good half an hour and afterwards we both fell asleep - can't imagine why! We also laughed about our favourite African holiday phrases:

"We are all podded out" - this is used when we can't enthuse about a particular topic any more e.g. the hippos.

"After all, we are in the Bush" - this is used when things are not quite as expected or when things go wrong e.g. the wifi connection.

"One, Two, Snap" - this is used by a photographer when taking a photograph (pinched from a film) e.g. on "snap" the people in the photo snap their shoulders back and pose. Saying "cheese" is so last century!

We also had time to talk to the lady who does our room for us. She told us this morning that last night she had an unexpected visitor and when we asked her who it was she said it was an elephant. She then explained that she had planted some Watermelon seeds in her garden some time ago and now that they had grown into watermelons the elephant had come to eat them. She said it was frightening and that she made him go away by clapping her hands. We said that we hoped that it didn't come back again tonight.

By the afternoon, I was beginning to get a bit bored so I decided to start photographing and studying wildlife of a different kind -  Man in Khaki Uniform kind.  Wildlife of this kind only comes out at certain times of the day e.g. 5.00 am so I feel as if I should have started this project a few days earlier but here is what I managed today:

I don't think the results of my study are suitable for the Blog so I shall keep them to myself.

Sue and I did try to go to the Spa today but discovered it was a hut with an electric fan in it so we gave it a miss - after all, we are in the Bush!

For our evening meal Sue and I decided to try the Wildebeest with a red wine sauce and then we thought we would have the Walnut Ice cream for desert. Well, the Wildebeest was very good - it tasted a bit like beef - but when we got to the Ice Cream it had all gone! Sue and I decided to ask if there was any more so the chef came out to see us and then told us the best he could do was to bring us some walnuts so that we could add them to vanilla Ice Cream. He disappeared for some time and came back with Walnut Ice Cream that he had made specially for us. Now that's what I call service and what's more, the Ice Cream was delicious.

While we were eating our evening meal we were entertained by a group of Botswana Dancers but I am unable to show you the videos and pictures because the Internet connection tonight has been really bad - but what do you expect, we are in the Bush!

We are now packed and ready to leave Botswana tomorrow morning at 8.30 am so the next time I Blog I will be in Cape Town, South Africa.
