Today was all about the Mighty Zambezi River but before we left the Hotel to walk to the river there was another photo opportunity with the monkeys.
At the bottom of the Hotel gardens was the entrance to the Victoria Falls and below I have put an airial map of the falls and a map of the Mighty Zambezi (all the locals use that phrase).
We started off by viewing the falls from the top, where the river is just about to go over the drop. This is where Livingstone first saw the Falls and named them after Queen Victoria.
We then walked past a sculpture of Dr David Livingstone which is marked on the airial map and then proceeded to walk over Knife Edge Bridge and around the Rain Forest (both of which are marked on the airial map).
After the Sculpture of Livingstone we got the sight we were expecting and waiting for, along with the noise and spray of the biggest single expanse of waterfall in the World. It really was huge but very difficult to photograph because the spray was hiding a lot of the view.
Before we did the walk we were told to wear waterproofs to prevent us from getting wet in the spray. Well, we didn't expect to get quite so wet because the spray wasn't like a mist it was like rain. In fact it was like standing under a hose pipe on full blast! We got extremely wet but we loved it and just laughed like lunatics.
Here we are after our walk, soaked through to the skin.
After our morning at the falls we had a few hours to dry ourselves off, pack our suitcases and prepare for our journey to Botswana. We said goodbye to the lovely hotel in Zambia, boarded a coach and headed for the border.
Just before we left we danced with an African Band and then we danced with a group of Africans that said good bye to us. I will attempt to publish the two short videos on the next page.
Wonderful day 2 and fab experience
